Often referred to by fans as one of the hardest-working, hardest-touring bands on the circuit today, the 5-piece Illinois-based act not only proves that classification with their jam-packed tour schedule but also on stage every night, with youthful exuberance and a lively stage show, as reliable as it is infectious. High energy percussion, mandolin, guitar, bass, banjo and fiddle weave seamlessly together to create an experience for fans that has sold out shows across the UK and the United States, filling the front rows with fans not just singing along to one tune, but singing along to all of them.
The Currys have been staking their claim within the indie music scene since 2013, when vocalist/guitarist Tommy Curry quit his teaching job and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, to join the harmony-based folk-rock outfit newly formed by brother Jimmy Curry (vocals, guitar) and cousin Galen Curry (vocals, bass). The band have since written and released four full-length albums: their studio debut Follow (2014), called “eye-opening, but warmly familiar” by Earmilk, and whose title track is “one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard” (Todd Moe of NCPR); sophomore effort West of Here (2016), with its “tight-as-a-rubber-band” harmonies and “infectious” songwriting (PopMatters); and the expansive, self-produced This Side of the Glass (2019).
The Mighty Pines are a soul-inspired roots rock band influenced by the wide rivers and red-brick streets of St. Louis. Like the steady and strong trees from which they take their name, the band continues to grow in stature and sound, creating vast musical landscapes with their layered harmonies and thoughtfully crafted instrumentation. They generate a palpable vibe on their latest album, Late Last Night. Produced by Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Late Last Night stretches out with a sonic spaciousness, sliding effortlessly from roots and folk ballads to rock and soul. It also showcases the band’s growth as songwriters, arrangers, singers, and musicians.
Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, now living in St Louis, Walter Parks was recently invited by The Library of Congress/American Folklife Collection to showcase and archive the hollers, hymns and reels that were performed by homesteaders in The Okefinokee Swamp – the headwaters of The Suwannee River. For 10 years Walter toured and recorded the world over with Woodstock legend Richie Havens – performing at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden and at The Glastonbury Festival in England. In 2014, Walter was the sole accompanist of Judy Collins at her Lincoln Center tribute to Pete Seeger. Walter is the leader of two Americana roots groups – Swamp Cabbage (electric-folk/rock) and The Unlawful Assembly (reimagined spirituals).
Blues Music Award Nominated Guitarist, Singer & Songwriter Jeremiah Johnson blends the sounds of the south, with Mississippi River blues, and a touch of country flair. Emotionally charged southern rock, powered by the common man’s passion for life and all the struggles in-between, Jeremiah presents songs with meaning, a powerfully persuasive voice and master class musicianship.
