The Gathering Featuring Progress, Aug. 30

Progress: St. Louis’ top band from the 70s, playing hits from Chicago to Beatles!

Members of Progress trace their time with the band back to their high school days.
You’d be hard-pressed to write a story line as St. Louis-centric as that of the band Progress.
The group formed in the ’60s when its members were just teenagers, a bunch of south side Catholic school boys who’d go on a short but extremely popular run lighting up the then-competitive teen town scene.

As time would have it , the kids grew up , finished education and started careers and family. Some of the group stayed in music and joined other bands but for  a number of the members , the music faded to black. The group members had lost touch in the musical sense and in the familial sense too.

So after that many years as unlikely as it would be, The Progress band is playing Again. And yes they are playing those old hits from the 70’s by Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears and others. Jim Mills,Tromobonist  notes..” this bunch of guys is rare to assemble musically and they are  just as  rare  as close friends too. A veritable band of brothers.
